Merge paragraph borders
After this latest update, now users can easily create borders that surround numerous paragraphs. This task can be done with the help of Paragraph Border feature.
If they have similar paragraph border and shading properties then choose Merge Consecutive Borders And Shading With Same Settings feature while creating a paragraph border to merge the paragraph borders of two consecutive paragraphs.
Richer analytics for Publish Online documents
Now, INDD allows their users to track analytics. Users can now track read time, average read time, and device breakup of user views for every Publish Online document.
Use Photoshop and Illustrator shortcuts in InDesign
This fresh update of INDD added an option through which you can open Photoshop or Illustrator from the keyboard shortcuts in InDesign.
If you have Illustrator or Photoshop installed on your PC/Mac then you will get a message whenever you launch InDesign and try to create a new document.
In order to choose Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop shortcuts OR to revert to InDesign default shortcuts, navigate to the Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts.
Export document as separate PDF pages
Now, you have the option to create the separate PDF pages while exporting an InDesign document.
It is very simple to create separate PDFs for every page or spread. Choose to Create Separate PDF Files while the exporting process of Adobe PDF.
New mobile presets
This new presets feature for mobile phone and tablet have been added in the New Document dialog. Users can now use mobile presets for their iPhone X, iPhone 8, Google Pixel, and other Android devices.
Add endnotes and quickly orientation annotations within long documents. Users can also insert endnotes in the file or in a story, a single endnote frame is created for the document.
This option also allows you to control the numbering, formatting, and layout of the endnotes.
When you import your document then you don’t need to worry about the endnotes as it can also get imported along with a word document via import option. The entire endnotes that you have added are imported and added in a new text frame.
This feature allows the INDD users to create a border around one or more paragraphs. You can also modify the corner designs to highlight the paragraph with attractive effects.
Object height, width styles
Now, you can easily set and alter the object size and position across pages in a document with Object Styles. It becomes very simple to resize the width and height and reposition numerous objects across a document via Object Styles option.
This feature is available as Size and Position Options in Object Style Options dialog.
There are 3 options available for size:
- Width only
- Height only
- Height & Width
Same as the Size, there are 3 options available for the position:
- X only
- Y only
- X and Y
This version of INDD allows you to edit the hex value directly from the Color panel without the need to open the Color Picker dialog box.
Now you don’t have to create a cross-reference in order to search a particular paragraph from the list of paragraphs with the help of a search bar.
It supports the below-given types of search options:
Search from start – Match the series from the start of the paragraph.
Search anywhere – Match the series from anywhere in the paragraph.
When you create a fresh document then you have an option to see the preview of the doc in the New Document dialog. Choose the Preview in the New Document dialog box to see the look of your document based on the recent settings before you click Create.
Add and share text assets using Creative Cloud Libraries
This latest version of InDesign allows you to add text objects from your InDesign documents for Creative Cloud libraries and then share them across the application’s users.
All of your character/paragraph styles and other attributes are maintained originally and applied to the text assets in a library. You can also use the text assets again in the libraries across InDesign or Illustrator documents.
But, if a text object has their own effects and appearances then you need to add it to the library as a graphics asset to preserve them.
