Solution 1: Run as administrator

  1. Make a right click on QuickBooks icon and tap to select Properties
  2. Then click on the Shortcut tab
  3. After that tap on the Advanced button
  4. Now check the box for Run As Administrator
  5. Click OK
  6. Open QuickBooks
  7. at the top of the screen Click Employees
  8. Now Select Get Payroll Updates option
  9. Select Download Entire Payroll Update
  10. Click to the Update option

 Solution 2: Reset Updates

  1. At the top of the screen click to Help option
  2. Now select the Update QuickBooks
  3. Hit the Update Now button
  4. Here make a check to the box for Reset Updates
  5. Click Get Updates
  6. If it gets over without any error, then you can continue further but if you get any error message during this then contact QuickBooks Technical Support
  7. Close and then open QuickBooks again
    1. If here you get message regarding installation of update, then install the update.
    2. After installing the update, you also be prompted to update the company file so do it.
  8. At the top of the screen, click Employees
  9. Click Get Payroll Updates
  10. Select Download Entire Updates
  11. Keep continues press over Ctrl key on the keyboard
  12. Click Update 

Solution 3: Rename folder and reset update once again.

  1. Close QuickBooks
  2. Search to C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 20XX\Components (here XX is the year of QuickBooks)
  3. Make a right click on the DownloadQBXX and select rename 
  4. Rename the folder to DownloadQBXXOld
  5. Launch QuickBooks
  6. Click Employees at the top of the screen
  7. Click Get Payroll Updates
  8. Select Download Entire Updates
  9. Press and hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard
  10. Click Update
