[Solved] Unable to Send or Receive Email on Mac!

Outlook for Mac won't send messages  If you are unable to send or receive any messages on your Mac even if your Mac is connected to the Internet then it is clear that the issue could be with the provider of your email service. Or sometime it happens because of missing or outdated settings in the Accounts section of Mail preferences (Mail > Preferences).

Generally this issue appears when Mac users updated their system from OS X to Yosemite, after updating user gets unable to open Mail app and getting errors. Different errors can also prevent the user from sending or receiving email. Some other related errors are: SMTP server connection error, a mailbox that’s apparently stuck offline, a frequent request for a password from Mail app, or some other connection error. If you’re suffering from any of these issues with Mail app then apply the below given solution to fix them:

Problem 1: Mail indicates to a Problem with the Mail Server or Network

If your mail app is displaying error that it’s unable to connect because of a problem with the mail server or network, or the error message indicates to a connection that timed out or too many concurrent connections:

If you’re trying to send an email and connected to the Internet but the connection timed out automatically without sending the mail then it is sure that your email provider could be experiencing a service outage. Immediately contact them or check their status webpage to make sure that their mail service is online.

Problem 2: Mail says that your account appears to be offline

If your Mac system is connected to the internet but your account appears to be offline then your email settings might no longer be right. In order to view your current settings in Mail, select Preferences from the Mail menu-> click Accounts -> then choose your email account.

Generally, Mac automatically uses the accurate account settings for many email providers. You can use Mail Settings Lookup to see those settings, or get the settings directly from your email provider.

Problem 3: Email doesn’t arrive as soon as you expect

If you are unable to send or receive emails instantly or email app is taking longer to arrive, or it might reach your destination on one device before arriving on another device. Then make it clear that email delivery time is programmed by your email provider, and delivery time could also be affected by the internet speed. If you often experience significant email delays, contact your email provider or Internet provider. If you are facing such issue when communicating with a particular person, then that person may need to contact their email provider or Internet provider.

Still can’t send or receive email!

Step 1: First of all make it clear that you installed the latest Mac software updates, if you are facing such issue just after installing a previous update.

Step 3: In OS X El Capitan or later version, here you will find a status icon and brief error message in the upper-right corner of the Mail window, under the Search field.
